    mine is more like;

    we don’t get along. she bites me. we hug. she bites me. I make up little dialogue for her. she bites me. we’re best friends. she bites me.

    What I like is that they’re low maintainance in general but you can still invest a lot of emotional labour if you want to have a closer bond. There’s so many levels of how much a cat trusts you. Never gets boring.

    Cats know their names after a while but often do not care to react to them (or at least not in the way the human wants)

      When his little ears turn backwards to me as soon as he hears his name…

      But, alas, I could not name him the sound that treats make in the bag…else he’d be running towards me without fail…

    The more I see a posts involving someone making up songs for their cat the more glad i am to know I’m not that crazy since apparently many other people do it too lol

    I have made many “widdle kitty” remixes lol

      I mean define “song”. My girlfriend and I are no composers, but we got a lil jingle for our cat that features the word “potato” a lot.

    I was thinking the other day how my cat probably has no idea what my name is after four years. I live alone, and she hides whenever someone comes over. Lol

        You know what, I always respond to her when she meows and if I can’t see her/she’s not at the door, I’ll go and find her, and she does the exact same thing! She’ll chirp at it if she can see me or knows I’m in bed and come find me if not when I call her name. 🥹

      Mine picked up on my name quickly. Then I trained him to use buttons and he correctly can understand that the button for my name means he wants my attention / denotes ownership of something. I.e “<catname> food” and “<myname> food” which means he leaves it alone. Often says shit like “<catname> <myname> lets play” or “<myname> pets <catname>”.

        My dad would tell the cat we had when I was young that “<my name> is home” when I drove past the front window into the driveway and he’d take off to go wait for me at the door. He didn’t do that for anyone else. I miss that cat.

          My parents lived next door to my grandma. Mom would say “wanna go to Grandma’s” to her cat and he’d jump up on a speaker beside the door to be picked up and carried. Grandma would make him a scrambled egg or give him some tuna.

          After Mom passed away, I was visiting Dad and thought I’d try “Wanna go to Grandma’s?” He jumped up and let me carry him to Grandma’s and back. (After his scrambled egg, of course) He lived to be 21 so I carried to him see Grandma everytime I visited.
