Nobody wants to admit they ate 9 cans of ravioli
A dietician and a marketing associate, locked in a room, no weapons, bare fists.
I identify as meat lovers pizza.
After all, you are what you eat.
Serving Size: Two Tic Tacs (to stay under the “it contains sugar” limit)
Serving Size: 1/3 Pizza (who the f. eats a third of a pizza?)
Serving Size: 250ml (on a 330ml can of sugary soda)
There is some value in a standard serving size so we can compare nutrient density between products that come in different sized packages. Often labels will have two columns on the label, one for a standardized amount and another column for the entire package.
Yes the standard serving size of a can of pop. Is the can of soda!
Yes, I am in favor of the label having a column for the whole can, but also not all cans are the same size, for example Coke has at least four different sizes of cans: https://travel67.com/2013/12/12/coca-cola-serving-sizes-and-an-unusual-pricing-system/
Is having two columns of information (one for the whole package, one standard size to compare to other varieties) offensive to people?
That nutritional values are given for 100g/100ml is standard here, but the topic was the crazy measurements applied to the brand-defined serving sizes.
The brands usually abuse this to claim some crazy things like nonsensical health things (see TicTac).
In a New York cut, 1/3 of a pizza is 2 slices.
I will never get how you allow to sell pieces of pizza. In Italy a pizza is to be eaten fully.
Been living in Italy for 3 years now. Been gettin pizza slices this whole time.
Northen?
Roman.
i would be offended if that happened to me.
Only in Naples maybe. Roman style pizza is basically only sold in slices. Square slices to be more precise.
I can assure you the entirety of Southern Italy does it, not just Naples
That might be, but I’m talking about a normal 28cm deep freeze insta-pizza from the supermarket.
Fair enough
My brother married a lovely woman I watched go to the kitchen get a plate, pull out cheese/crackers and what not, cut a single slice off the end of an 8oz block, then cut that in half and put it on two crackers. Then went through putting it all back away and walking to the dining room to sit down like it was going to be a whole ordeal to eat it. Some people are just built different. Im not going to bother pulling out a plate or even a knife if I’m not cutting up near the whole 8oz block. How many crackers, just grab the sleeve. Maybe pepperoni or sausage or w.e else I can find too.
Maybe she has an eating disorder and is uncomfortable with other people watching her eat, so she made herself a dainty portion because she knew you were observing her. Her “whole ordeal” was the angst she felt wishing she could enjoy more than two crackers & a slice of cheese.
That means I’m a party of one according to a the chips.
There’s a party in my belly, and the whole bag of chips / cheeze puffs is invited!
All fun and games till the heartburn shows up and everyone has to escape out the back door.
Not usually an issue for me. My heartburn trigger used to be acids (e.g. pizza sauce) too close to bed, but after I lost some weight, I basically don’t get heartburn anymore.
That said, I very much avoid anything with much hot spice. Anything that I think might burn on the way out doesn’t make it in.
Even though corporations play with labels, I still think of it as “this single food item is not a substitute for a meal.”
But it’s silly to assume people will split most of this crap. It’s not like a bag of chips you can roll up for later, it’s molten-frozen astronaut food.
also like, in this case it’s literally fucking lasagna, if that isn’t a meal what the fuck is?
I think you are supposed to have a couple of vegetable sides to go with a meat+cheese+pasta lasagna.
(But, sure, lasagna is a pretty flexible term, you could make one where an appropriately sized portion is a complete, balanced meal.)
The people who want to lower the calories per serving?
