I’d assume his wife must be horrible for having married him in the first place, but also Vance was saying “Trump is America’s Hitler” several years ago and it didn’t sound intended to be a compliment. Seems like he’s changed a lot. I feel bad for her.

Nah. He’s been shit since before he became the VP pick. She knows who her husband is. She’s educated, has a career. She could have walked away at any time. She supports him.

I’d have to see proof that she’s horribly abused to the point of living in fear for her life Is she left, before I’d have sympathy for her.

I don’t feel bad for her at all. What kind of woman doesn’t know her husband is a piece of trash? Or what kind of woman stays married to a fucking nazi once she find that out? I’ll tell you, a garbage kind of woman.

This is not commentary specific to her, and I’m not defending her at all with this response, but I do want to note this:

A lot of people hide who they really are to lock in their partners with children, debt, etc. Things like abuse don’t start out on day 1. And we need to be careful with this sort of rhetoric.

Agree with this partially because I had a sibling marry a person who hid a problem they had/may still have. However I think the warning signs were there, they just chose to ignore them ( and that is a whole other story).

Ya sometimes, especially when we are younger and maybe lonely and just want to be loved we certainly ignore red flags, or worse, think we can fix it.

As friends and family, we can only once and very gently voice concerns. Put the seed of doubt in there, and then wait (sometimes years) from them to realize.

Anything more and they double down on the bad relationship

Look at Stephen Miller’s wife. Look at Melania. Terrible horrible humans.

Women married to these types are aligned with them.

Ah, a man with no morals, ideals or conviction is willing to say whatever it takes to get into a position of power? Excellent husband and father material right there.

It’s not like he changed… it’s just good old hypocrisy and having no morals… he just believes whatever is convenient to believe in order to gain advantage

Let us all hope this is Usha Vance’ pathway to a better life as a far left revolutionary. Or at least as a more self-aware human being with healthy boundaries.

I just assume the drift to the left follows with personal enlightenment.

It’s nuts. Politics and governance in the US have degenerated into bottom barrel reality TV. Even life-long trailer park residents would find these people tacky. To paraphrase Thompson, “The man wearing only boxer shorts and a leather trench coat stopped beating the squealing blow-up doll with a bottle of whiskey for a moment and looked blankly at the TV while stoically ignoring the kids crying in fear in the next trailer over. “Oh, now that really is beyond the pale,” he exclaimed.”

I believe in you, even when you may not.

          Edit:

Turning and turning in the widening gyre The falcon cannot hear the falconer; Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world, The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere The ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worst Are full of passionate intensity.

You may be the best of us.

I love this shit. All that money and power is supposed to make them deliriously happy, and they just keep getting more and more miserable.

If we wait long enough, they’ll probably all kill themselves. The problem is, they’ll kill the rest of us first. Only when they realized that didn’t bring them the joy the expected, will they off themselves.
