At least it fits in a bike lane. That’s nice.
That price is quite something, though.
wish the back could be engineered to fold our seats or such. something like the way minivans can fold the seats down and do cargo or passengers.
Electric cargo bikes are excellent for deliveries and multi lane tracks could replace car roads
Fuck cars, yes - but vehicles exactly as wide as a standard width bike lane can fuck right off too.
I looked at the tech specs and it’s 924mm wide, which is slightly wider than the average cargo bike or trike. A typical bike lane is anywhere from 2 to 4m wide, which should leave enough space for passing or oncoming bike traffic I think.
A typical bike lane is anywhere from 2 to 4m wide,
I wonder how many people are posting from places where 1m is a decently sized bike lane.
Cries in New Zealand where consistent 1m is a luxury. We have bike lanes which sometimes narrow to 1m for both lanes
You guys have bike lanes? 🙃
which should leave enough space for passing or oncoming bike traffic I think.
This would decide for 90% if I’m happy with these things driving around.
Fuck cars
Car classified as bike
Please no lol. I want bikes and trains, not rip off mini cars.
You gotta admit this is a damn sight better than gigantic conventional pickup trucks though
This is a great concept, with two big BUTs.
1)this shouldn’t be allowed on a bike lane, or, god forbid, sidewalk 2) it should require a license
Otherwise, people get hurt.
The deciding factor on whether something needs a license is usually speed. If this goes slow enough, it would be fine without a license, IMO
Top speed on this thing is 25kph (at least in the UK).
Hm, I think it SHOULD be about injury risk, which is a combination of speed and damage upon impact. The latter is a combination of speed and mass. And it looks heavy.
Pretty dumb that the pedals aren’t connected, and are instead an overly complex “go” button.
But vehicles like this are great to have, as long as your city has the infrastructure to support bikes, walking, and public transit.
Reading your comment about the pedals not being connected, I assumed this was the new bike/quad from rivian sub-brand Also. It’s not, but that makes me worried that this is a trend that will catch on.
Price shows the problem with the economics. You can get this brand new for $15k, or you can get an SUV in reasonable condition.
Which has been a problem for a long time. Let me introduce you to the CitiCar. Starting production in 1974, it has a 2.5hp motor and a 36V battery giving you a whopping 40 miles of range. This would cost you $2,988 in 1974 (going by the best source I could find), or about $20k now.
But why would you do that when there are tons of used cars for less than that? It’s hard to justify as anything more than an expensive novelty.
To be clear, I’m quite aware of all the reasons cars as we know them are terrible and do terrible things to our cities. When the average person looks at the price tag, though, they’re not going to be convinced. They see something just as expensive as a car (at least as far as the piece of paper right in front of them says), is seemingly less capable than a car, and then go buy the car.
if I only had one child instead of two, I would get a kei truck
Pretty sure a car is supposed to go “vroom vroom” instead of “tuk tuk”. But idk, I’m not a car person
then where do you put tuktuks?
