    I think those predate the MIC, and even written language. See e.g. The Epic of Gilgamesh.

        Homo sapiens* the s is not for plural.

        But it’s a good thing you clarified that you meant H. sapiens, since there’s a strong argument to be made that earlier Homo species are also human. (And also that battles were had even before the divergence of Homo from Hominini.)

          Ya I think Homo literally translates to man so H. Erectus, habilis, etc. I think are regarded as humans? Its not my field tbh

          Firstly, I dont condone war or violence, I think we are smart enough to resolve issues without it now.

          But generally speaking, there are massive benefits if youre the winner in a conflict. New resources, new land, new labor force (assuming you dont wipe everyone out completely), reinforcement of your culture and ideaologies, and more. Theres a reason violece is inherit to human nature, it has a long history as a viable and successful strategy.
