Speaking of which, can anyone please tell me why XHamster now requires a Virgina ID to visit the website, even though I live nowhere near that shithole?

    1. Why does it have to be a Virginia ID specifically?
    2. How the hell am I going to get a Virginia ID from out of state?
    3. Why would anyone give a porn site their ID to begin with? That’s a major invasion of privacy.

      1. It thinks your connection comes from Virginia for some reason. Specifically, it thinks your public IP geomaps there. You can use https://whatismyipaddress.com/ to see where their database would pin it.
      2. You can’t
      3. They really shouldn’t. But the sites are asking for them because they are required, by law. The alternative is to block those connections, as PornHub decided to do.

Such laws now exist in Florida, South Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, and Virginia.

Sucks so hard that it’s the only porn site in the world and that there is absolutely no other way to get your hands in porn, now. Oh boy oh boy, what are they going to do now to get off? I lean, priests there have their choir boys but the common Joe on the block?

The point is that the individual states are requiring government issued photo ids to view pornography, and pornhub is instead blocking the states rather than giving up people’s right for privacy.

It basically already is because you know most people are just going to lookup a free VPN who has every motive to obtain as much information as possible about the user and sell it.

Torrents only work if at least one side has port forwarding enabled. And you don’t want to rely on other people having their ports open. In order to ensure you can actually connect to a seeder/peer, it’s best practice to enable port forwarding on your end.

The issue with this is that many VPN providers have stopped offering port forwarding services, because kiddy diddlers figured out a way to use port forwarding to privately share CSAM. So it has become difficult to torrent with a VPN, because pedos somehow manage to ruin everything.

I may have to look into a new VPN provider. What provider would you recommend that isn’t sus? Thank you!

That’s part of the issue; All of the “best” VPNs have stopped offering port forwarding. Mullvad and Proton are the gold standard for VPNs, but neither offer port forwarding. Private Internet Access still offers it, but they were bought out by a marketing company that was caught sneaking adware into their programs. PIA’s service is still good, but it relies on you trusting an ad company with your internet traffic. They claim to not save any logs or use your data, but they’ve also been found to be liars in the past with that adware scandal.
