I got a call about a kitten hiding in a 30 foot lomy drainage pipe.

I had to borrow some tools from an auto shop across the street and it took an hour but I got a little bugger out.

Within 15 minutes they handed off to one of our local fosters to the great disappointment of my wife who decided she wanted to keep it

the moment she saw it.

    That’s a darling kitty.

    My dad was called out at work to assist in freeing a really loud cat that seemed to be caught up in the drainage gutter along a road in town. My dad worked for the city water utilities department - and this was back in the 80s. The event caused enough of a ruckus that a local news crew ended up on the scene. Anyhoo, they ended up pushing a large hose down the drain pipe to try and get the HOWLING cat to come out the other end where another grate was. This worked well enough as this tiny little white and black kitten came out of the opening. They couldn’t believe that huge noise came from such a tiny kitty. I remember watching the evening news that night while they interviewed my dad about the event while this little kitten climbed all over him. We ended up keeping him - with my brother winning the naming rights (Angus, but we all called him Gus). He was so full of earmites at first, and was obviously not fully weened, but that was the greatest cat we ever had. Good memories! Thank you for sharing this.

      This kid was on remarkably good condition but after getting him I was already set to deworm it because all feral cats have issues.

      I wished I had had a fire hose but a block down the road from this task was every fire engine and ambulance within 5 miles responding to something that wasn’t my business unless I got a call from a CERT team leader. But I really wanted their fire hose. It would have saved me a lot of time and we always keep a pet towel in the car because we never know what is going to happen.

      I got this call while taking pictures of a round bail storage area for an art reference. We went from there to the cat in less than 15 minutes.
