Especially here in sweden(where greta is from) arabs just use it as bro and everybody started using it… which creates funny situations where immigrants from all over the world use habibi to refer to their friends. Same with yalla and other slang but from what i know those are commonly used in arabic as well.
I’ve never heard it used by a man to refer to another man, so I was under the impression that it was more like “dear” or “babe”. Is that a common use of the word?
