You’re bringing up something that ended 26 years before that… I’m not saying it doesn’t count, but it wasn’t the most relevant thing even in 2001. I think the longest peace time in modern US history is more relevant than the decades old war. In fact I would even assert that the peace time was far more important. It was precisely because of this long peace time that we were prosperous and had an optimistic view of the future.
