In America, recently came across “back-petal”, instead of back-pedal. Also, still hearing “for all intensive purposes” instead of “for all intents and purposes”.

    I definitely understand that. But none of this thread is trying to hold non native speakers’ feet to the fire.

    I hope you know of that phrase. I just realized that’s a saying that might not translate.
