I actually think in this case it’s the opposite-- your expectations of the term “AI” aren’t accurate to the actual research and industry usage. Now, if we want to talk about what people have been trying to pass off as “AGI”…

Have you ever considered that the world doesn’t conform to your intuitions of perfect balance?

No offense but adults should be better at resisting manipulation than schoolchildren. Plenty of people in the US saw the right turn fascist and went “hey, that’s bad, I’m not going to vote for them”. Anyone could do it. So, yeah, I blame them a lot and I think if you believe you could fall for fascism easily you should work on finding ways to improve on that weakness.
