Jeez, I wonder if it has anything to do with the president being a pedo and also giving out pardons to anyone who supports him like it’s the candy from a white van.

This is great for preaching to the choir and reinforcing beliefs people already have. However, to convince people that need convincing, this kind of thing needs to be backed up with evidence.
I can’t just send this image to Uncle Joe. He’s going to instantly dismiss it as lefty propaganda, and laugh at me for credulously believing it.
I need to also send a link to a web page that lists the people with each name linked to a news article from a reputable source. The individual news articles would need to make it clear that this person was both A) a Trump supporter, and B) convicted of the crime.
As near as I can tell, Reich Wing Watch doesn’t even have their own website. The closest I can find is an Instagram account. Neither Uncle Joe or I have Instagram accounts, so even if RWW backs up the details in each image with verifiable links, Uncle Joe is NOT going to sign up for Instagram just to go see.
From what’s visible on the Instagram account without logging in, it appears that they’re including people who have simply been arrested. Uncle Joe is going to justifiably play the “innocent until proven guilty” card.
Sure, a majority of those arrested will likely be found guilty. But, if true, that means that for every month that you have 40-50 trumpets arrested for this crime, you’ll have about the same number of other trumpets convicted as well. Focus on those people and keep the arrested people on the back burner until they’re convicted, and you slam the door on the “innocent until proven guilty” rebuttal.
In summary, to be affective for anything more than reinforcing the beliefs of those that don’t need to be convinced…
- RWW needs their own website where people can see what they have without needing an account to log into.
- Every one of thier images like the one posted above needs a dedicated page listing each person with links to reputable news articles.
- The news articles need to make it clear that the person was A. Convicted B. A Right Winger
- Each image needs to include a short, easy to type in, url to the specific page for that image.
Without that, right wingers will just see this as easily dismissible Lefty propaganda and “proof” that we’re all gullible and brainwashed.

You are correct. Just as an FYI, RWW is actually a youtube channel, though they also have Instagram and Facebook pages. I am not terribly familiar with them because I prefer to read articles rather than watch videos to get my information. RWW also comes across as a bit over the top to me. Perfect for preaching to the choir but unlikely to get any converts. On the other hand, the whole Trump/GOP situation in the USA right now is over the top too so maybe that’s appropriate.

I don’t know about Instagram but going by their Facebook profile, you would have to be deliberately stupid to think that they’re just posting about random people being arrested.
There are 56 names on this list, as well as the individual articles about all of these individuals on this profile. Expecting someone to spoon feed you 56 different links, or more if you’re too much of a ‘skeptic’ to trust just one source for each of them, is a bit much. I’m sure you know how to use Google based on the information here.
And even if you don’t have a Facebook account and can’t see that content, and won’t make one, or any effort to see for yourself before declaring “both sides”, I’m sure that your Uncle Joe has a Facebook account.

This isn’t some new groundbreaking revelation. That’s why the clutching at pearls over trans people was such a fucking joke. Because they’ve been turning a blind eye to kiddie fiddling priests and right wing politicians for decades now. And proved that christianity is a religion of conformity, not morality.
This is literally just more information for the people who have actually been awake at any point in their lives and aren’t just finding out today that right wingers are disproportionately involved in child abuse. So that they can know to keep children away from the man with the maga hat and tell their friends. So that the heat can be on the right target.

20 some years ago I ran a blog with this exact kind of content. I had saved Google searches that would find news articles that I would verify before posting. I limited them to people convicted of any crime, not simply arrested or charged, where their religion was somehow relevant to the story, and still averaged about one a day. The overwhelming majority were religious authority figures (predominantly Christian) commiting sex crimes against children in their care. It was fucking exhausting and depressing and drained my mental health, which is why I quit.
People already aware of this problem don’t need to be flooded with reminders of it. What they need is the ammunition to take these reminders to those close to them that somehow aren’t aware.
RWW has already done 99% of the work. All I’m suggesting is that they do the extra 1% so that anybody that doesn’t have the time or energy to go dig up this stuff themselves can just forward it to Aunt June and know that Aunt June won’t be able to rebut any of it. They don’t want to waste time debating Aunt Jane. They’ve got their own shit to do. What they want is for want Aunt Jane to STFU about how “Pastor Bob is so good with the kids.”
Ah I definitely understand the “preaching to the choir” sentiment, particularly here on Lemmy. I think that’s also partly why I’m fucking with mainstream social media right now.
But I mean in that case, might as well not share any political content here. Personally I wasn’t sharing it here to preach to anyone here. I think that sharing content here is more for showing things to like minded people. Maybe a reminder sometimes. Or something for them to look up or share to their social media or whatever.
