He even lies about the reason for the 50% tariff on Brazil. It wasn’t due to the trade deficit, as the US has had a trade surplus with Brazil for many years (https://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2025/10/17/brazil-exports-fall-us-traiffs/3781760711705/).

It was purely politically motivated, as right around the time that the tariff was about to be placed, Bolsonaro’s son, whose dad was in the process of being judged for his treason and attempted murder attempts, went to the US to cry about it with Trump. (https://www.france24.com/en/americas/20250719-bolsonaro-s-son-known-as-number-3-pushes-for-us-pressure-on-brazil)

Ofc a fascist defends another, and to punish Brazil for its actions he placed that tariff. He also attempted to invalidate the entire country’s sovereignty by classifying the PCC (a gang) as a terrorist organisation, which would allow the US to march into the country with impunity (https://www-theguardian-com.translate.goog/world/2025/may/07/brazil-gangs-terrorist-designation-pcc-comando-vermelho?_x_tr_sl=en&_x_tr_tl=es&_x_tr_hl=es&_x_tr_pto=tc and literally what’s happening RIGHT NOW in Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela). IN ADDITION, he also tried to fine Brazil by classifying PIX, the national payment system, as a way for crime to propagate in South America and the US, while the real reason was that he disliked the strength of the BRICS in standing against the usage of Visa and MasterCard’s duopoly as well as the global dependence on SWIFT (https://restofworld.org/2025/pix-brazil-us-investigation-digital-payments/).
