TikTokers are debating their Trump-supporting parents and sounding off about what it’s like to have parents who’ve gotten sucked into the MAGA cult. These Tiktokers are exposing multiple trends that have emerged among pro-Trump boomers that shed light on why they can’t get them to leave the MAGA cult. In this video we’ll look at content from TikTokers who share their experiences.
I think it’s more ignorance, lack of critical thinking and forced ideology more than anything. I think these folks are good willed but lacking all those things (except ignorance, but not in a bad way).
Edit: and I think all three are exploited by the party they vote for.
Ignorance leads to easy brainwashing, but there’s also unreflected anger and the far right’s invitation to project it into anything they point at. I guess one could call that some sort of mental illness, but that’s too broad a statement when the video goes into much more detail.
