So while both do mean “white”, it’s rare to hear bela in modern everyday speech :)

(And I don’t speak Russian, let alone lawyer it. I can barely read Cyrillic slowly and recognise a handful of mostly loan words.) Thanks for the tangent. They’re often the best part of these threads.
