Guys, soon we will live in a digital concentration camp, where everyone will know about us, and our fate will be decided based on the collected data, when the world will continue to rot alive. Are you ready for this incredible adventure? Well, have you prepared your masks and learned to play the law-abiding citizen so as not to get caught? After all, it will be very easy to get caught, it will be enough to look at someone incorrectly once or criticize someone, for example, the government.

If anything, I’m interested in what ideas you have on how to live in such an empty and rotting hell, since everything has already been decided for us a long time ago and the plan is being implemented. Well, on the other hand, what could you expect in a world where the strongest survives? I think such an outcome was obvious from the very beginning. I think you yourself have already realized that the alternatives are rather a blatant and sweet lie. The only question remains: how to survive and remain human until the very end in a world where even the soul has no value?

I am already gradually recovering from the deep depression that I will never again be able to realize what I have always dreamed of and I want to hear your sincere opinion so that I no longer have false hopes because the road to hell seems pleasant and is similar to heaven, and the road to heaven seems like an unattainable dream and feels like hell.

There is no point in warning anyone anymore, it is useless, people either believe in convenient lies like: “I will cope somehow, it worked before!”, or are tired of life and are simply looking for consolation in at least something, and only a very small percentage of people accept the truth and either resist to the last, or leave this life, or simply escape from this concentration camp.

So yes, I would probably prefer to enjoy every free day until the last, soaking up the fresh air and chatting on various topics while I still can.

Dystopias are becoming reality, aren’t they?

Well, I’ve lived half my life without the Internet, because it wasn’t invented yet, and if things really go this way, I’ll live the rest of my life without the Internet. No digital sharing, no digital spying. And I recommend that you disconnect from the network for a couple of months and touch the grass too.

And I have already touched the grass, felt the pleasant air and the only thing I miss is people with whom I can communicate without filters and other things, but you know, it is not easy to find them offline… Although such connections will be much more valuable, two or three such friends will be more valuable than millions of subscribers on YouTube. You know, I grew up on the Internet, and it’s incredibly sad to lose it like this. Fate is as merciless as always.

I was also desperate like you a few years ago.

Now I prepared for all that mentally and physically and i just do with it. They want to get you by isolation. Isolation gives loneliness and allow more control on you. Internet is perfect to make the world your enemy, as long as you are only spoonfed by their algorithms. After all, anger and hopelessness are the most impactful emotions.

The solution? You also already have it. Choosing what you want to see. The fediverse is that. The others who ignore warnings? They will figure it out the hard way. Or not. Anyways victims are always needed in large numbers for resistance to hide.

Talking about it, now is the time to gather your “resistance”! A common accessory, gesture, try to organize a local network of truth to preserve values of freedom and knowledge safe from corporate control and to not be isolated!

Personally, already living on a place where internet is slow and unstable, I would not be too bothered about stopping using internet at all.

Kiwix for wikipedia at home, ytmp3 downloaders or bandcamp to own your music, piracy and artist support (instead of buying without owning and giving half your money to some corporation) to own your films and games.

(But most of all, support your local library/media library/culture space! And don’t hesitate to make sometimes public essays about things of your interests, many cultural spaces accept that on some hours! I made IRL friends who love astronomy like me that way! The social media brainrotted people won’t come to theses places so it’ll be easier.)

As for the web, this is a place to share your thoughts, but not too much. A paper diary or a notebook is the best place to write and share your thoughts without letting them be used against you. Plus it allows to calm down and be yourself. A secred garden, where your free speech will always exist, hidable or destroyable in a matter of seconds from authorities. You should always have some freedom on your hands. But don’t tell about it to anyone IRL!

Not bad, not bad. But still, I think the main rule in the future for those who want freedom is to never live or even sometimes move around developed cities or megalopolises, only to quiet towns where there is less control. Anyway, I just wanted to sober up as many people as possible I will still continue my business for a while because once some time ago I even managed to convince several people not to sign themselves up for slavery even though it cost me time and a ban but I think it was worth it.

i too felt despair about he future in this regard and learning that the system they’ve decided for us also paints the viable alternatives as blatant and sweet lies, gave me hope.

the learning curve to dispel this despair is very steep because we’re taught from birth that this system is just and universal, so you’re going to have to put in a lot of work to de-program yourself and you should understand that it’s going to be a life long effort.

the effort is worth it imo since it forces you to recognize that we keep re-enforcing this asshattery upon ourselves and it lets you see that reality will win out eventually.

Ayup. People seem to have no idea what’s coming next. Millions will die. And we can warn them as much as we want, no one will believe us. That also absolves us of the responsibility imho.

Agreed, damn it, let them go to slaughter like cattle if it’s easier for them. Why save sheep, needlessly risking your own skin, risking falling under the sharp knife of the farm owner?

I have a hope that a “race to the bottom” might save us from the worst.

Right now everyone is tethered to corporate APIs like umbilical cords… but it doesn’t have to be that way. “Closed” social media (even if corporate like Discord and Telegram, for the moment) is gaining a lot of traction.

Locally runnable LLMs are starting to undermine corporate endpoints, and agents could run on phones and pull the human engagement rug right out from under giants (eg instead of your service app or Facebook or whatever tracking your habits accessing stuff, your phone navigates the junk and “does it for you,” depriving them of any human interaction to mine, and the human of any viewed ads or wasted time).

This is viable because (past the sunk cost of owning a phone and charging the battery) it’s free. We could distribute automated evasion of digital hell, on current or near future hardware, theoretically.

Well, hope is good, but now time is running out, I think now is the time to analyze and act decisively, even paranoidly, if we don’t want to be slaves.

Then be proactive. Dive into self hosting! You’ve already started, posting on Lemmy, and there’s plenty to see based on whatever your interest are.

And I know most of lemmy doesn’t want to hear this… but that includes the machine learning space. It’s going to be in the future, so best start learning how to detach now.

Honestly, I think I’ll have to get a Linux computer without internet and create on it for now. Well, the internet is likely to become a very dangerous place because of AI agents. I honestly thought about what to do because anonymous platforms can be sold under pressure and then it will start… Honestly, I came here to find someone to share my thoughts with and also to find support during these difficult times.

This is a topic I’ve heard, with many people downloading archives from the web as ‘offline’ knowledge preservation.

Well, yes, and they do it for a reason, you better download the most expensive one, so that it doesn’t get lost. And keep it as a relic of truth, if you can say so.
