I think that’s more a societal issue than a personal one. I think most anti gays either don’t really have a big issue with gays personally, or are just plain gay themselves (it’s a trope at this point for a reason) but they can’t express this freely
I think most anti gay sentiment is just people shouting along with everyone else even though most people like gays or just don’t care.
Basically, being different is always a good reason to be scapegoated. You are Jewish? I have this problem which I can shove on your back, making it your problem. This too applies to gays, and what not.
This is coming from a married bisexual man whose had group fun with loads of gay guys (and girls and trans and…). Don’t ever think I can freely say to people in my social circle what I do in my private live, because I can’t.
