We are united because no individual state in the union has the capacity to become the world’s largest economy or sole superpower. Together we managed it.
My point is that one of the things that gets on my nerves (and of many people that live in America, the continent, outside of the U.S.) is that USAians call their country a plain “America”. United States of America doesn’t sound like an actual name like e.g. Panama or Brasil, and sounds more like “we are some states in the American continent that are united”
Ayo, never seen no one express opinions like these, like mine, out in the wild! They do call themselves America, despite being only part of the continent. And their uncreative name. Big brain move they had there. Like a Monty Python sketch. I could see it to the tune of the witch scene
“What are countries made of?”
“Land?”
“People.”
“…Cows.”
“A church.”
…
“States!”
“That’s right! And where are these states?”
I like to call them 'Muricans sometimes, to differentiate 'Murica (US) and the real America, the much bigger and, thanks to other countries, generally better one.
You don’t even have a name. You are just some states in (the continent of) America that just happen to be united for some reason
“Columbia” was pitched but didn’t catch on, except for Washington District of Columbia

I was half joking :P

California alone is the 4th largest economy on the planet. It’s GDP is larger than Japan…
