back in the day, there were rooming houses and boarding houses that were affordable for poor single persons. Let’s bring those back because artists and young people and those in middle or later age who are newly single d/t divorce or death without children need communal housing. Many women desire security protected housing. Allow a mix of secure/security provided buildings as well as communal multi-sex housing.

I think some would feel secure in those boarding houses for women that have strict rules (no men in rooms, no overnight guests, scheduled times to be in the house with am and pm meals provided to be comforting/desired and services such as housekeeping, am and pm meals.)

While others wish to live in a more communal building with mixed sex, loose rules regarding guests, a renter monthly meeting to air issues and decide rules and a communal assumption of daily maintenance/cleaning tasks.

Seems like that’d be a lovely environment to remote work from, especially if they had rules about noise levels during working hours

No. This is such peak liberal half-assed policy. The solution isn’t to rebuild the social safety net to allow the exploited to better survive capitalism.

The solution is to abandon capitalism, and not need the social safety net, because all people deserve to live in dignity in their own home- not a shelter.
