So you say, yet there is more room to increase it

This is longer than usual - he’s also gotten ratioed on truth social which he never has before. It’s normally 3 or so days for stuff to blow over within his camp. It’s been 9 days now since the DOJ issued their memo that’s sparked this all
I can’t tell you what things will look like for certain, but this is not business as usual. Trump also normally doesn’t directly insult his own supporters. He has been doing just that multiple times

The damage can still be reduced. It’s not binary even if we’re not in great shape. Every 0.1C matters. Our policy decisions still matter. Just because we’re likely to miss earlier targets doesn’t mean there isn’t a difference between something like 2.2C and 3C
This whole sentiment that “it’s over” is one large emitters actively promote to try to stop people from acting. Don’t play into their hands. Doomerism is wielded as a tool to demobilize people. Powerful people want you not to act for a reason - because they fear we can still make progress
*sigh*
President Trump on Tuesday said Iran was “very close” to having a nuclear weapon, despite March testimony from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard that Tehran was not building one.
[…]
Driving the news: When pressed on Gabbard’s assessment by reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump replied, “I don’t care what she said. I think they were very close to having” a nuclear weapon.
[…]
Gabbard, during her opening remarks at a House Intelligence Committee hearing in late March, said that “[t]he IC continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme leader Khomeini has not authorized the nuclear weapons program that he suspended in 2003.”

Other estimates put it at ~5.2 million. The 3 million estimates appear to be excluding the west coast
That’s around 1.6% of the US population which is pretty large for a protest. This isn’t the first nationwide protest nor will it be the last. Next date planned for 50501 is April 19th

This wasn’t the first nationwide protest of his second term nor will it be the last. This was the 4th nationwide 50501 protest. Plus other movement like Tesla Takedown had large nationwide protests prior too. It’s just that now it’s gotten large enough that the media can no longer ignore it. It took time to get here. Each protest keeps getting larger than the last
Millions of people have just been put in touch with the various local groups organizing these protests. Usually at these protests they’ll be people going around giving info, sigining people up for mailing lists, etc. That’s a good part of how each protest gets bigger
Besides just protests, that will enable much more action and more rapid action in the future. For instance Indivisible does tons of work on directed pressure of congress and local leaders. 50501 organized smaller boycotts in the past when the crowds were smaller. Now they can organize boycotts more with more effect

There are also Tesla protests growing in Europe (and Canada, and more)! Musk’s influence threatens more than just the US, so we must all step up. The Tesla Takedown protest movement started in the US, but it’s now becoming international. Here’s a map of the latest ones in Europe

Here’s the site with that info along with a guide on how to plan one around you if you don’t see one

There have been tons of protests and there have been some pretty widespread ones outside of Tesla this weekend. The media is just hardly covering it making them seem way smaller than they are
Here’s a map of recent Tesla Takedown protests alone

https://actionnetwork.org/event_campaigns/teslatakedown
Here’s just a handful of photos from yesterday

Most people within the US aren’t aware these protests are happening either. There are also broader nationwide protests planned on April 5th as part of the 50501 movement. This will be the 4th nationwide 50501 protest
It’s from the signal groupchat of top Trump officals discussing Yemen strikes that the Atlantic Editor in Chief was somehow accidentally added to

Nice! There’s a bunch of vegan communities on lemmy to check out too
Both for general info and also things like recipes
? ~60% of his wealth is estimated to be in Tesla shares
His net worth is definitely affected by Tesla shares declining

We can still fight back on the state level. States and local levels will lead the way for progress here
California got a state law to enforce net neutrality in 2018. This is a good part of what limited the damage of Trump overturning it the first time

Call your senators, they can still block this despite Schumers push. The vote is tomorrow morning. If all republican vote for it, they need 7 dems. 8 with Rand Paul who has said he’ll vote no. (Republicans are not using reconciliation so it needs the the filibuster)
Many senate dems are publicly coming out against voting for cloture (meaning they won’t vote to let it get through the filibuster). As of what I last read, around 10 dems are thought to potentially vote to let it pass filibuster. Most of those are still not sure. We only need a handful more of those to become noes and it will get blocked. Some yeses have flipped to noes because of public pressure. We cannot let up now
Link to find direct numbers your senators
https://www.senate.gov/senators/senators-contact.htm
Or call the capitol switch board (202) 224-3121
House dems are publicly telling the senate not to do this (and it’s not just AOC on this - it’s quite a few of them). Earlier read that 7 Dem state AGs are saying the same. Federal worker unions are telling senate dems not do this. Keep the pressure up

Not to take away from the horribleness of what they’re trying to do, but he has been found now in some good news. They moved him all the way to Louisiana (for no justifiable reason) and after making contact with his attorneys a judge has temporarily blocked deportation order. Still keep a close eye on it

Local & state level is where a lot of the progress will live on in the near future. Call your local legislators & vote in every local election - they are way more frequent across the country than you may realize

Don’t do Trump’s work for him by spreading apathy and dispair. He wants us complacent and to forget the power we have. He is far weaker than he seems so he has to project absolute power. Don’t give anything to him for free

Local and state officals can enforce laws on their own without federal involvement
Assuming everything is doomed to fail is exactly what Trump and Musk want from you. They want you to stop fighting or trying because you might realize they are weaker than you think. Don’t do their work for them
It’s now just a bit more. Just a little bit really
