That’s fair, but I still think it shouldn’t be accepted or allowed.

Fair enough. I still think it shouldn’t be allowed though.
Yes, but how is the AI making the images or videos? It has to be trained on SOMETHING.
So, regardless of direct harm or not, harm is done at some point in the process and it needs to be stopped before it slips and gets worse because people “get used to” it.
That’s a great point. Wish more people would practice it.
Geography has never been my strong point, but even I know Greenland is the cold one and Iceland is the green one.
While this is accurate, most people have a better chance of actually understanding it when you use the full quote.
We live in a world where people have to be convinced to care for and sympathize with those around them.
They’ve accomplished nothing except further pissing off some of their most competent user base.
I don’t think they’ve cared about the competent users for a very long time. They only want the users who click OK
or Next
without reading or thinking.
I only know the DNS blocking from them.
ETA: Not sure if their app does more.
DNS blocking (such as AdGuard) doesn’t work for everything. Ad blocking extensions are the only way to block YouTube ads in your browser as far as I know.
Well, that’s not surprising to see. Thanks for the clarification.
Would not be surprised at all. Just want people to know about that instead of still being mad about some bullshit someone spewed years ago.
This was apparently never an official statement. It was someone in an interview that misspoke.
A Firefox fork like IronFox with an aggressive adblocker setup like uBlock Origin in medium mode blocks paywalls and all kinds of annoying popups on most sites. Takes a bit of tweaking to not break some sites, but after that it’s amazing.
So, I’m using IronFox on Android with uBlock Origin on medium mode. Not an ad or other problem to be seen on that site. On Windows I use LibreWolf with the same uBlock setup.
These are aggressive setups that can break some sites, but after a while of tweaking it carefully you don’t notice it’s there anymore.
Nothing that I know of, sorry. I have never used iOS before and don’t know anyone who has.
Just be aware that there is a slight chance of sites not working as expected due to all of the privacy tweaks. It’s mostly fine though.
Good luck!
Sounds like a dream job if it wasn’t Fox or similar.
I’d honestly rather Fox focus on this than their usual conservative mouthbreathing.
I also don’t agree with the killer games thing, but humans are very adaptable as a species.
Normally that’s a good thing, but in a case like this exposure to something shocking or upsetting can make it less shocking or upsetting over time (obviously not in every case). So, if AI is being used for something like this and being reported on isn’t it possible that people might slowly get desensitized to it over time?
