Not that I know of. Unless someone has stated their gender or pronouns, I just use people’s names and avoid anything that assumes or implies gender.

Sometimes I like hexbear, agree with them and laugh with them, and sometimes their insular attitude makes me cringe. I am very critical of the democratic establishment in the US but hexbear’s “blueMAGA” talk is really offputting to me and sounds like the incel / redpill speak from parts of reddit and other online communities.

I forgot that not being part of a platform that just changed its rules to openly allow and advocate for hate speech toward trans people is virtue signaling.

Sorry that I want trans people to live without harassment and have human rights, I guess. What a virtue signaling asshole I am.

According to Google Trends, related searches like “how to delete all photos facebook,” “alternative to facebook,” “how to quit facebook,” “how to delete threads account,” and “how to delete instagram account without logging in” have become breakout searches, with popularity suddenly increasing by over 5,000% compared to previous periods.

So that is 51 times higher than usual? Am I mathing that correctly?

I wish stories like this wouldn’t use percentages this way, and reported hard actual numbers to compare against.

Lemm.ee has been great to me. The instance owner and maintainer seems like a genuinely decent person. We refused to federate with threads but otherwise we federate with pretty much everyone and leave it up the user to decide what they want to be exposed to.

On facebook and Twitter and others, we cannot say whatever we want. Truth is suppressed while disinformation is allowed. Saying LGBTQ+ people are mentally ill is allowed but mentioning even the word “cisgender” is suppressed. LGBTQ+ content will get removed for being “sexual content” but straight content that’s equivalent will be allowed. LGBTQ+ people face repeated harrassment on these platforms, sometimes to the level of terrorism; if they don’t feel safe posting about LGBTQ+ topics, they cannot say whatever they want. Hell, they get doxed but there’s rarely repercussions for the doxers.

Imagine if I spread lies about you, call you a pedophile, doxx you and then someone SWATs you; would you still feel like you can say anything?

Equality and fairness does not exist on these social platforms.
