I was looking for a micro LED monitor a couple of months ago, but the technology is still not mature enough and everything on the market simply wasn’t good enough. OLED is great for TVs not so much for productivity monitors, micro LED should be perfect for monitors, but still a couple of years away from the mainstream.

Inference is in principle the process of generation of the AI response. So when you run locally and LLM you are using your GPU only for inference.

The whole startup industry rely on investors to cover for their costs for years, while they work on a loss, in order to obtain a bigger market share. Look at Netflix, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.

So buying an account you are increasing their market share.

But feel free to use Mistral, Deepseek, etc. that would be better

Please show me an LLM model that is really open source. My understanding is that most of the open models are open weights. For the record Mistral is also releasing Open weights models.

What is amazing in this case is that they achieved spending a fraction of the inference cost that OpenAI is paying.

Plus they are a lot cheaper too. But I am pretty sure that the American government will ban them in no time, citing national security concerns, etc.

Nevertheless, I think we need more open source models.

And where is the proof that something similar has happened? Didn’t TikTok comply with every request of the US government?

And what about the lack of fact checking on Meta and X. Isn’t this a concern for you that they will spread misinformation even faster now? Where are their fines?

The same can be said for Meta and X. They even stopped moderating them. So why shall we ban TikTok and allow Meta and X to continue working? I am up for greater scrutiny of social media, but one that’s applied equally across all platforms.

Nor the software stack

You know if Trump hasn’t been elected they wouldn’t do that, then the EU will threaten to block their content. Trump will introduce some bullshit tariffs on the EU and will in general try to destabilize it as well as NATO. Putin will be very happy, because neither Trump nor Putin wants strong and United Europe and both are trying to destabilize the EU.

And this is creating a very dangerous precedent, where the US government shows complete disrespect of international law and provides Israel with this so-called feeling of utter impunity.

I understand that Biden should please his donors, but isn’t there a single candidate that thinks more about the humans than for the money.

And that’s why ladies and gentlemen, we the plebes outside the US don’t like the US state, because they always think they are above the law and act as such. Law should apply to everyone equally, no matter what their nationality or how fat their bank account is. Deliberately undermining the law should be punishable, and these people should seriously be ashamed of themselves by thinking they are the only one who can define what’s right and wrong!

I read the article and it felt very strongly opinionated. I would personally wait for independent reviews of the capabilities of both GPT-4 and Gemini Ultra but I dare say that we as consumers of AI can only benefit from increased competition in the sector, pushing the prices down and the quality of the models up.
