You should have backups with a passphrase, in different locations. So if the underground stash is stolen/corroded, or if the bank opens up your safe deposit box, then your money is still safe.

I was kinda making a similar argument because of “if they were smart”. They are smart. Americans are smart too. But being smart doesn’t trivialize the very complicated problems with overthrowing a dictatorship/oligarchy, because neither government is currently democratic in practice — so voting will not work.

I don’t know what it’s like in Australia, but here in the USA the large websites write laws like that specifically to prevent competition from small websites.
