I work in higher ed. If we’re focusing on “the economy” alone, international students bring SERIOUS MONEY to the communities where they attend college.

Like. They have to have liquid cash to cover a year’s worth of expenses in order to even be accepted to the university. That’s tens of thousands of dollars in foreign money flowing to local landlords, grocery stores, utility services, etc., multiplied by dozens or hundreds of students EVERY YEAR.

Yeah, if you take a look at the “lifetime data” of many of the stocks, it’s pretty clear that they are still really freaking high.

Holy heck, you make an excellent point. This kind of activity should have conspiracy theorists working overtime. I haven’t heard of any bubbling to the surface. No “Q-anon”-type theory about why this is all happening the way it is.

Is that because most conspiracy theorists have been undercover disinformationists? Is that because most conspiracy theorists are actually in support of the values the coup is taking on (eugenics, authoritarianism, etc.)? I just finished rewatching that show the other day. I was surprised at how well it aged. The Elon Musk insults slapped and it made references to a Trump presidency.

They’re comparing the current administration, which is canceling all research and progress such as the invention of the wheel (or other scientific development), to the Neanderthals, who are in pop culture stupid and backward people.

But it falls flat because Neanderthals were smarter than Trump and Elon combined.

I was initially really confused by this meme because Neanderthals were actually creative and rather culturally rich, unlike this administration.
