Obligatory: Most eggs aren’t fertilised. So they don’t contain unborn chicken. You are basically eating the chicken’s period.

Even if the universe is nondeterministic like quantum physics suggests you still don’t have free will because your thoughts and feelings are still ruled by physical processes even when they are random.

But you don’t need physics to dispute free will. Schopenhauer already said that you may do what you want. But you cannot will what you want. Einstein used that realisation to not take everything too seriously even when people act infuriating.

They redefined it a few years ago to base all units on some objectively measurable natural constant. Because that stick of metal might still decay or warp or something and you don’t always want to travel to France when you want to know the length of a meter. Much easier to measure the atoms and light you have on hand.

I’ve been off work for three or four years now. Long Covid is a bitch. The paperwork was monstrous but now me and my wife get paid by a combination of the state’s pension, health insurance so my wife gets paid for caring for me and my unable-to-work (can’t think of the proper name) insurance.

But usually I’d get 26 to 30 vacation days per year.
