  • Our population largely would willingly choose a long, slow boil in a pot over a sudden change to their way of life.

The comforts that come with living in the wealthiest land in the world are more than addicting, they’re dangerous to a society that’s still under threat of being exploited by men with designs on power and control. It’s so easy to leverage a comfortable population. An uncomfortable population is more likely to move, to get up and change something or resist a new order.

So our best hope right now is that things move fast enough to make enough people uncomfortable that our population starts talking in terms of “general strikes” and other forms of protest that will shut the country down long enough to purge the oligarchs either by sending them off or lopping off their heads.

And as weird as it sounds to say in the year 2025, yes I am on board for a revolution with guillotines at this point. When a ruler harms or kills many people for personal gain, they have forfeited their lives and have forgotten that we want rulers who serve us, not kings who crush us.

The less succinct version is that she was considered one of the OG progressive youtubers who gained a huge following and as a result has garnered a LOT of harassment over the years she was running. (Keep in mind she was at peak of her youtube career around the time of “Gamergate”) When she directed mild criticism towards the Disney movie “Raya and the Last Dragon” and how it was derivative of Avatar, I can’t remember the details but something about the way she made the comparison set her up to be attacked by online chuds pretending to be concerned progressives attacking her for being “anti-asian.”

Lindsay Ellis was a champion of equality and diversity and the details were infuriatingly minor and stupid (which is why I can’t even remember it) but it was just the final straw and her mental health couldn’t handle any more threats, attacks and condemnations and she left Youtube other than doing some guest bits with other old-time Breadtubers and she still does work on Nebula.

I fully get how even if you make a widely praised and well-received work, you will tend to fixate on the negative reviews the most, but this was the end of a long-term campaign to bully her off the internet and we can’t expect every content creator to have inhuman thick skin. That said, I wish she would have just got off Twitter and kept making content, we could use her more than ever.

  • Every time someone points out hypocrisy in this “administration” I want to smash my own skull through a marble table.

Yes, they are massive hypocrites, they didn’t win leadership despite this fact, they won leadership BECAUSE of this fact. They appealed to the hateful while driving away the moderates and less engaged people by shitting in the political well. The people who voted these shitsacks into office are our nation’s most hateful, hypocritical idiots who see someone above the law as an “alpha” and will praise him every time he does something inconsistent, because they see it enrage normal, decent people and they consider that “winning.”

  • I actually can’t find anything about chronic cocaine use causing incontinence .

Short-term it makes you get the shits, long term it can turn your bowels into non-functioning tubes of fecal compaction and cause lethal constipation or require surgery to remove the giant death-turds that will occur. As for urination, I suppose like anything you abuse it might cause damage to muscles or delicate blood vessels that allow organs like the bladder to function, but by that point you are more likely to see kidney death before bladder death.

People can develop incontinence without any help from drugs too, it’s a common and embarrassing symptom that can be caused by a number of different diseases or conditions that can hit anyone at any age.

Just throwing a little actual knowledge into a pool of speculation. I was raised by a cocaine addict in a family of cocaine addicts, I’ve seen its effects. I tend to think Trump does use stimulants or did for a long time, the way he speaks and his mannerisms lines up pretty close to what I’ve seen over and over. The shit will fuck up your brain long before it hits your guts.

  • Your wording is inarticulate and bad. You should feel bad about it.

HOWEVER, you are right that it’s a silly argument, the people who hate pronouns don’t hate the effort they have to make to call someone by a prefered combinations of sounds to more accurately represent their identity, those people hate using “preferred pronouns” because they hate people who don’t conform to some imagined sense of societal authority and isolated standards of “normalcy” and would completely overhaul their own language if it meant preserving their own status-quo perceptions of a stable and immutable society.

Combine that with the very basic, childlike emotional tantrum that is a segment of society that sees a marginalized group getting special treatment and literally feeling jealous that they’re not also getting special treatment for “doing nothing” and you have our current situation where the wealthy, donor-class has taken over American society and robbed our treasuries and coffers to make themselves richer and more powerful and successfully distracted our stupidest and most petty segment of society into thinking the problem is other struggling people.

  • I consider myself very average, and all my average interactions with AI have been abysmal failures that are hilariously wrong. I invested time and money into trying various models to help me with data analysis work, and they can’t even do basic math or summaries of a PDF and the data contained within.

I was impressed with how good the things are at interpreting human fiction, jokes, writing and feelings. Which is really weird, in the context of our perceptions of what AI will be like, it’s the exact opposite. The first AI’s aren’t emotionless robots, they’re whiny, inaccurate, delusional and unpredictable bitches. That alone is worth the price of admission for the humor and silliness of it all, but certainly not worth upending society over, it’s still just a huge novelty.

  • Which is why he’s deliberately choosing ambiguous and non-binding language in this tweet. If questioned later (I presume at the Hague) he can then say “well, I said ‘command’ not ‘rule’ so I wasn’t speaking about actual legal rulings, just you know, like when a judge tells someone to do something, not a ruling in a courtroom…”

Fucker knows how seditious this is so he’s riding the line.

  • but since the pole still won’t fit it either punches holes in the barn or shatters.

Latest research is suggesting that the observer from the pole’s perspective sees the far door open before the near door, basically reversing the order of events. (Assuming the barn doors close briefly around to contain the pole, and then open again to let it through. The Barn sees the entire pole momentarily inside the barn with both doors closed, the pole sees itself enter the short barn, the far door closes briefly and then opens letting the front of the pole through, then the back door closes and opens as it passes through. IE: order of events can be recorded differently for each observer without breaking causality.)

You also cannot choose the spins of entangled particles, they collapse randomly in either direction when interacted with, meaning you cannot send messages. If you can figure out how to directly influence the spin of generated subatomic particles then BAM you have FTL communication.

But you would be amazed how many obstacles the universe throws in front of you when you try to break the speed of causality. Faster than light communication isn’t possible because it makes no sense when you understand it. It’s like “getting answers faster than questions.” It’s nonsense.

My dysfunctional, delusional and conspiracy-soaked parents told me all the time as I grew up, isolated and disallowed from having school or friends, that I needed to beware the world, that I must never trust others, that people were liars and crazy and that one day I would understand.

Now I do understand. After long-since having buried them all, I now know the truth they said would be so blessed and would “save” me. I now know the book they lived by was a book of ancient fairy tales with some good moral lessons and a lot of death and brutality. I know that they reason I was kept isolated was because they were mentally ill and in denial, I know that I was raised in a cult, not kept safe out in the wilderness. There will be no “second coming” there will be no “paradise” or apocalypse, I am not chosen or special other than the fact that I control my own life and destiny. And I know that THEY were the lying, crazy world that I must not trust. And there are so, so many like them still out there, to various degrees.

Honestly, taken in a vacuum it’s almost a biblical story in itself. That the hardest lesson is the one you have to learn on your own as you abandon literally everything you thought you knew and hoped for. That the real world is dark, and vast and cold and we live profoundly lonely lives, brief flashes of life that are gone in an instant as we cling to a mote of dust caught around a spark in the dark, and maybe we can choose to make our world better or we can choose to make our lives better or we can make the lives of others better and that’s it. We don’t get better options and they’re not mutually exclusive. If you’re not doing those things, you’re wasting time.

    You.

    Do.

    Not.

    Have.

    Time.

    To.

    Waste.

I hate that this clown has turned me into an accelerationist, but at this point what do we have left? Our society and even our species has shown how hopeless our situation is, the ONLY way forward from here is if the numb and dumb start experiencing consequences for making terrible choices in leadership.

To this end, I want to see it all burn. Not because I hate anyone, but because I think we can do a lot better as a species if we held consistent values and didn’t get led astray by literally anyone who can weave an entertaining story. Our parents were supposed to teach us the value of thought and reason and the risks of making bad choices, but then we all got on the internet and learned that no matter how wrong we are, no matter how backwards our thinking or decisions, there will be some group that supports you wholeheartedly and without nuance.

Yah, I think we’ll start making progress again in this country when we all realize that most people don’t care about facts, they just want stories.

Donald Trump’s power has nothing to do with anything other than his flagrant disregard for reality and his chronic disorder that makes him just launch into stories about anything and everything. And not just stories, they’re always ridiculous stories like you would tell children. This works because most people are again, children who want stories.

While Trump and his ilk have woven these epic stories of good versus evil and how rotten the enemies are and how great the good guys are, the left and the dems have been trying to quadruple down on being “civil” and producing charts and graphs and data to back their arguments. I get it, I used to think reality mattered to other people, but now I get it, that for the vast majority of humans, nobody really thinks.

I don’t mean that as an “I’m smarter than everyone” statement, but a discovery about a fundamental quality of the human experience, which is people only think they think. What actually goes on for all of us, all day long, is we feel a thing, experience a sensation or emotion, and our brain writes a story to explain it. You believe this story because you tend to never doubt what you come up with in your head, but your brain doesn’t naturally default to facts and logic, just ways to connect feelings and experiences. This is intrinsic to how our minds work and it’s what let us survive ice ages and predators and apocalypses of ancient times. But in a modern, complex world with language and politics and technology, it just makes us more confused and wrong, which is why people tend to cling to people who can successfully create a narrative that weaves everything together in some sensible way. Not actually sensible, it just has to “feel” right and the brain will accept it even if you don’t agree with the person telling the story. This is why there are so many people and institutions that suddenly feel like they’ve turned “pro trump” it’s because we’re monkeys and we follow our leader, especially when they can make enough of us follow a storyline.
