The ubermensch concept was very popular in the early to mid 1900s, and has even been attempted before! Refer to world War 2 and Nazi ideology for more reading on that topic.

So which parts of the picture are true?
Make it a year of pto, and you get to spend that time over the next 18 years. I’d happily take a week after birth and then more time off later as they get older.
Don’t ask lemmy for advice. Lemmy cares about their own ideology and nothing else.
She could do the exact same thing and nobody would say anything about it. Nobody would consider for a second that she actually meant to do a salute. Why would she? What in her history would make anyone think she is aligned with nazis? What could she hope to accomplish doing such a thing to the type of crowd she would be speaking to? The very idea is preposterous, and for that reason it wouldn’t even be considered.
My point is that the united states is a stabilizing force, and in many cases someone else would step in if we left. So my question is, would they be more fair? Its not as simple as saying that the united states is the sole source of evil in the world.
Do you think it’s possible to live in harmony with the rest of the world? If the united states conceded its powerful position, who would take over as the new world power? (Probably China) Would you be better off? Would the world in general be better off with someone else in charge? Would you prefer to stand for the Chinese flag or the American flag? Or do you actually think we are ready for a world where there are no super powers?
Solar is way less reliable because it’s efficiency depends on outside temperature and on the sun, but it’s more versatile in that it can provide general electricity where geothermal is only good for heating and cooling. It just hasn’t quite broken through to be cost effective enough. People would buy it if it were. I’d like solar and a battery as an emergency backup, but it’s tough to justify.
I’m talking about point of use. I know a bunch of people who spent a few thousand extra to get geothermal installed and paid it off in a matter of a couple years, and 20 years later they still have cheap, all electric heating and cooling. Solar takes 15 to 20 years last i checked, and then your panels need to be replaced. Wind isn’t even an option.
But yeah that’s really only for point of use energy and is only marginally applicable to scale operations.
It’s a little jarring seeing a post like this alongside a post celebrating the possibility of jailing people for doing a nazi salute. Anyway to answer your question, some people cannot function in society. They are dangerous, and the only way to prevent them from harming others is to isolate them from society.
They like geothermal though, for the simple reason that it’s actually cheaper in the long run. Also solar is nice because you can live off the grid. But otherwise it’s not very popular among conservatives because the cost effectiveness in the long term isn’t quite there. They aren’t motivated by the idea of green energy, it’s a simple cost calculation.
That’s a fair question. It’s mostly just my observation, but if I were obligated to guess, it is partially filtering based on the types of people who are active and readily express their opinions on various topics, but also because of the reasons people moved to lemmy in the first place, many of whom were evicted from reddit because they were too extreme.
There are a lot of people, especially on lemmy, who see everything through the lens of their personal ideology and utterly lack the ability to empathize or understand different views or life situations. You only matter to them insofar as to how it can advance or support their ideology. It’s pathological, and their views should be ignored.
Lol you answered nothing at all. Did you even read my original question?
He is deporting Americans? That’s your argument? What does it take to become American?
How or by what were they forced to leave their country?
What refugees?
Yes but I’m saying what if Musk did that.
No it’s not that one, which was an obvious crop job. Another guy found it in one of the other comments. Again, it’s not that I’m saying that AOC did the salute, just that what if Elon did the same exact thing? It’s a double standard because he would be treated differently for it because of all the other context. But my point is that it’s not unreasonable for there to be a double standard given the context of who did it.
Luigi situation is interesting because pretty much everyone agrees that the health insurance industry is broken. While most conservatives (probably?) disagree with his method, they can’t wholly disagree with his motive.
