Yes, and yet it is still so very far from reality when it comes to BEVs. It’s fine when comparing cars because it’s a well defined standard, but it’s terrible at indicating actual range especially if you don’t live in dry warm climate.

Yes exactly
This truck is also a BEV, didn’t say it wasn’t. I’m saying go buy a BEV that’s not a truck (and they all have better efficiency than trucks) that has a tow hitch instead of this if you’re just commuting.
Battery Electric Vehicle
Don’t buy a truck if you’re just a daily commuter, that’s just plain dumb. Get a BEV with much better efficiency and a tow hitch for the occasional needs.
That’s not 150 miles of actual driving range, it’s more like 75-100miles of actual range.
Oh please, as if it’s only the US having massive issues…They’re not, they’re just the most loud mouthed about it online and it gets tiring. There’s only so many fucks to give before fatigue sets in. While their situation is truly shit, it’s also by far not even close to the worst were dealing with at the moment. So yeah, I’m tapping out on the subject of US political drama for a while, that doesn’t mean I don’t sympathise with them.
I miss the whimsical everyday relatable bits this strip used to be…it’s getting old with the non-stop political theme. Not that I don’t agree with the stance, but as a non-US internet user I just…don’t…fucking…care anymore.
Traffic fines are made to bankrupt drivers or to finance the state, but to encourage people to drive safely.
Yeah that really depends on location…in Denmark the minimum fine for speeding is 160€, and that’s if you’re just more than 3kmph above limit…it just increases from there and ends with something like a 1000€ fine and them withdrawing your drivers licence (a new licence is going to set you back 2000€). If you’re above 100% speeding the take the car too.
That’s not going to be enough…the dude claimed “coast to coast” autonomous driving capabilities “by end of the year” back in 2016.
…Until they suddenly don’t anymore
Providing 2-3 lines of explanatory context is hardly a research paper, but enough to illustrate reason behind a simple statement.
AFAIK, the author of this comic is somewhat of an asshat that exercises varying degree of censorship on a comic strip subreddit, based on their personal beliefs.
Them saying Joe Rogan’s podcast is “toxic, diseased, and damaging to society” is not better critique than the other poster calling this comic dog shit. Both are just statements that provide no argument or reasoning behind the statements. Sure they could back it up with examples why it is so, but so could the other commenter, which would make either of those comments valid criticism, but without they are equally good (or bad) criticism.
There are charging stations with 40 chargers delivering +200kW each, they’re powered by HV lines directly to transformers located at the charging stations. But most (all?) BEVs are only near max charging power for a fairly short period of time, and full occupation is also not seen very often. These large stations (and smaller too) are managed by load sharing, so in the theoretical case that 40 cars arrive exactly at the same time with perfectly prepared battery temperature and SoC and all connect at exactly the same time, they will just be capped by the chargers so the station doesn’t exceed available power spec.
A 3D-printed data strip encodes instructions for the printer as holes in a plastic sheet, which open and close simple switches in the motor controller. These switches control the speed, direction, and duration of the motors’ movement, letting the data strip encode motion vectors.
LOL, he made a punch card controlled printer…that’s really awesome and fun use of old tech.
The EU also tariffs them heavily
Yes, to tip the scales back towards fair competition pricing by offsetting the subsidies the Chinese brands are getting from their government. It doesn’t fully offset it though, they’re still quite a lot cheaper than e.g. VW BEVs
Then they must have use some impossibly shitty magnets to be able to drag the plate sideways like that. I can literally drag my printer across the table only by the plate if I try to pull it off lengthwise instead of upwards.
There should definitely be enough holding force to trigger the collision detection if it hits the print enough to move the plate like that.
It could definitely be the nozzle getting caught on something so the motors skipped a few steps, I’ve had that happen once before and it produces this exact outcome.
It’s OK…nothing stellar or impressive, but acceptable and absolutely good enough for most light users, the one-sided Z-axis is not ideal.
But yeah, the speed is completely shit compared to other modern bedslingers. edit: seems they managed to catch up to the cheaper competitors WRT speed, so they’re on par with printers that cost less than half now.
All are tall models with shit efficiency.
