When the Wall was torn down, Leonard Bernstein conducted and recorded a performance of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony as a dedication to the reunification of Germany.
When it was released, the record company sent a small tchotchtkie to the classical music buyers at all the record stores/chains - a wooden stand with a piece of the Berlin Wall glued to it. I’ve seen a lot of little gifts for buyers to entice them into ordering an album, but I’ve never seen buyers more excited than they were for this one.
