    It just makes me sad. Half these people didn’t know who this guy was a week ago and have only seen a very sanitized version of him after his horrific assassination. If I didn’t know who this guy was beforehand and only knew him from the clips and coverage seen after his death I would probably also think “huh someone killed this guy for that?” Nevermind that he devoted his entire life to laundering fascist ideology to college students and they’re not seeing all of the pretty awful things he’s said through the years. And of course you can’t post “Hey before lauding this guy as a hero maybe check out what he actually believed in” because that makes it seem like you think it was good he got shot or think he “had it coming.” It’s just frustrating because emotions are high and people are backing into camps because they feel scared and like they are under attack because they have successfully allowed themselves to be put on the same team as this guy in spite of not being nearly as extreme. But the problem is that all of this fear and anger can easily be redirected into more hatred, and there are many people trying to do just that.
