They’d probably point to the idea that the Soviet Union had not achieved Communist Enlightenment yet, was on the way towards it, which required sacrifice or some such. When really that was a euphemism to make people swallow all sorts of exploitation.
Given they accept the quoted text as real, I stand by my initial statement. But they’d probably have plenty of copium ranging from “it was only very few cases for a short time” to “Western propaganda”.

You’d be surprised. There are tankies on here that insist on such lunacy as “The Stalinist USSR was actually really democratic!”
They will always swallow the official line of denial, even long after the officials themselves have disavowed it.
