Out-of-class e-bikes are getting faster and more dangerous. How will it impact the image of slow-speed, pedal-assist vehicles — or even the faster riders who are responsibly sharing the road with cars?
I’ve driven around e-bike riders on several occasions recently because I commute. It’s extremely difficult to notice an e-bike rider when they don’t have lights and are riding fast. If they’re going 20 MPH they can slip into your blind spot without you noticing rapidly. Combine this with a driver who’s not paying full attention and you have an accident.
