Once I was refusing a return because the customer never paid for the item, I explained how the item wasn’t on the receipt because the cashier made an error in their favor and they never paid for it.
My supervisor sent me to lunch and did the return to get the customer out of the store.
I once had someone (during my thankfully short stint in retail) try and return a block of cheese that had gone mouldy before the use by date.
The packet was open and half eaten and he admitted they hadn’t kept it in the fridge.
And my manager over rode me and gave the refund!
