Sen. Markwayne Mullin said he does not wear a seatbelt while driving in Washington, D.C., lest doing so prevent him from acting quickly in case he's carjacked.
Not in the senator’s case. He was talking about how he drives himself, and doesn’t wear a seatbelt in his jeep in case he gets carjacked because he “doesn’t want to be slowed down.”
Because we’re all familiar with the scourge of carjackings that became murders when people took the 5 seconds to undo their seatbelts.
The implication is that I don’t have to worry about any of it because I just don’t drive in DC. Public transportation in DC is perfectly fine when there’s at least one functioning escalator.
I don’t wear a seatbelt when I’m in DC and I’ve never been carjacked once…I just walk, take the metro and ride an occasional bus to get around.
So is not wearing a seat belt a euphemism for not driving? What a weird way to say that statement.
euphemism, for being a human projectile onto the road when, the vehicle suddenly stops at high speeds.

Oh damn, sorry. I thought you were quoting him rather than expanding with your own experience.
Still not sure why the Senator in the post doesn’t wear a seat belt.
