If the AI falsely identifies your age, and you can’t prove otherwise, the restrictions won’t be removed.
I wonder if the fact that my account is old enough to be an adult would be enough.
If it’s wrong, congratulations! They don’t have as much of your data as previously assumed.
Surprise! Everyone with an effective Adblock solution is suddenly 10 years old!
Sounds like a good way to lose users.
Google has either overt or tacit monopolies. They haven’t cared about losing users for years, and by and large, they have been correct that it doesn’t matter. YouTube is so ubiquitous that it may as well be a public utility.
Or be free from googles data collecting bullshit without having to navigating the labyrinth of hidden (not really hidden just burried and parsed across multiple menus to make it as hard as possible to turn certain shit off) google settings lol most of the consequences for being underage are settings I used to use when I used Google services.
i assume the next bit is locking content behind a login so you’re forced to verify your age, which makes these apps harder to use
I think they’re already doing that at least some. I’ve noticed an increase in the number of embedded videos that I can’t watch without signing in. It also makes downloading for offline viewing them a bit more difficult.
I really need to check out Peertube.
