Really great video game channel with unique content. He played all the same games I did growing up so it’s really nostalgic for me as well.
The “unremarkable and odd places” series makes me feel some kinda way. And check out the huge back catalogue of his glitch show Eggbusters.
LGR is a classic. He’s a great, honest guy and runs a good channel with good content. Financed by views and memberships/Patrons; I don’t think he does any sponsorship deals at all.
He’s an old-school kind of Youtuber that sticks to what he does and doesn’t overreach or grow too fast like so many channels do.
I encountered him a long time ago and started watching him in earnest a few years ago. Really sad to see how he was affected by the Asheville floods but happy that he has been so resilient.
I like Matt Orchard Crime and Society.
He releases videos on high profile crime cases, usually murders, focusing on the interrogation and trial. I find it well researched and presented in a thought provoking manner, with the occasional touch of humor. It’s always worth watching his content even if you think you heard everything about the case already. He somehow finds a fresh perspective or a concise way to put it all together.
Thanks for the recommendation. After watching Bong Joon Ho’s Memories of Murder (highly recommend watching it, if you haven’t already), I have been trying to watch more content like it. I’ll give this one a go.
What do you classify as independent?
I like “The Line” on TY.
They have some very good shows like Skeptalk, Chewed Gum, and the Trans-Atlantic Call-in Show.
General Sam, SpiffingBrit, AmbiguousAmphibian, Let’s Game It Out
If you’re a transit nerd (like me), I highly recommend watching Miles in Transit. The host is super entertaining and creates informative, funny videos about public transportation in the U.S. and, occasionally, other parts of the world.
