I am feeling called out today because the only suit I own is dark blue, and I do wear it to funerals. Am I supposed to own a black suit? Do people feel disrespected? Nobody has ever said anything…

You’re not going to the Pope’s funeral.

Honestly, most people will never attend a very formal funeral. Wear your blue suit. If you come to mine I hereby grant permission to wear jeans and a band or nerd T-shirt. It’s very indicative of what I wore most of my life up to this point even if I dress better now when I leave the house.

I don’t think most people care as long as you are trying.

You wear your dark blue suit son. It’s obviously respectful. That’s all that matters.

Where I’m from only close friends and family would wear a suit and dark blue would be absolutely fine. Black jeans and a nice jacket would be spot on here too in nearly all circumstances.

I’ll tell you what though if you got an invite to the pope’s funeral I’d bet you money you’d pony up for black. That’s all folks are saying here.

Unless there is a Dress Code that explicitly says you must wear a “black” suit, you’re fine. I wouldn’t worry about it.

I’m a pastor so I go to quite a not funerals, and I only own a dark blue suit. For the ceremony itself I wear my black robe of course, but for.the meetings after I wear it.
