    I don’t actually mind her leading with positivity. Is it superficial? Sure. But I’m okay with the good vibes.

      I do. Toxic positivity is just about as bad as being an outright asshole in my opinion.

      I get that nobody likes to cope with negative emotions, negative things happening in reality, or possible negative outcomes from our actions (or inaction) but these things are a part of life and can serve as a reinforcement mechanism to help us fix things.

      Toxicly positive people keep insisting that everything is going to work out fine and sing a little song while the ship sinks. I’d rather be on board with folks that understand negative outcomes are possible or even likely, if in fact they are.

      The heart hands bullshit of toxic positivity is terrible in good times and nearly intolerable when everything is in crisis.
